17 weeks

Here we are at 17 weeks.  I had just woken up from a quick nap and then we were out the door to a routine appointment with our doctor.  They did some blood work to screen for...something I can't remember right now.  My favorite part of the appointment was getting to hear the heartbeat again.  We didn't have an ultrasound but the doctor had some tool that lets them play the heartbeat for us.  She kept saying how it sounds like a little train chugging along.  It was cute.  I keep wishing that we had thought to record it so I could hear it whenever I wanted and so I could put a link on the blog.  We have an ultrasound in 3 or 4 weeks and I will try to have Joel do some recording then.

At the appointment we discussed my medication and how terrible it has been to be off of them.  I wanted to know if there were any other options or something that we might be able to do that could improve the situation.  She said that if I need them that it is okay to go back on them.  The chances of the meds hurting the baby are very small and the depression and stress from the anxiety that I have been experiencing can be harmful to the baby.  It can affect their ability to grow, cause preterm labor lots of other sad things.  I stopped reading the research because it was depressing!

So we have decided to put me back on a smaller dosage of 10 mg a day to see if that helps. I will keep you posted!

Three more weeks until we can find out if we are having a boy or a girl!!!
